Your Brand

What is Your Brand?
Your Brand, or personal branding, is how you market yourself to others, including the digital representation of yourself online. Your brand is who you are and what you stand for, including your goals, values and skills. Your brand is the combined sum of everything you are and how you project it to others, whether online or offline.
And people who matter to your future are searching for you online - employers, co-workers, clients, business partners, dates. Personal branding on the web means shaping their perceptions of you by defining your strengths, values, goals and personality and presenting yourself in a compelling, persuasive manner.
If your name is only attached to a single social network like Facebook, your total personal brand online becomes that profile. If you have commented on ten blogs, and have three social network profiles, then the sum of that participation and creation is your brand - how people perceive you.
Developing your personal brand online will attract greater opportunities and help you stand out in your field. Plus, it's fun to see relevant Google results for your name increase as you strengthen your brand.
Why should I care about personal branding?

And although there may be cheaper stylists, more conveniently located, my stylist is the only person I will go to. I trust his brand. The brand promise of trust is everything." - Garr Reynolds
